Welcome

The Valley of the Sun Chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society welcomes you to our website. Here you'll find information about our organization, its mission, its members and its activities.

Our chapter, in the greater Phoenix, Arizona metropolitan area, is but one of over 60 belonging to the American Theatre Organ Society, an international society with over 5000 members. The goal of our organization is to preserve, restore, maintain, and promote the theatre pipe organ and its music, preserving original instruments whenever possible. Presenting concerts, silent film programs, such as the Silent Sundays series at the Phoenix Orpheum Theatre and educational seminars of interest to the general public are but a few of our regularly scheduled activities. Our online news blog, The Stop Rail keeps our membership informed of chapter news and activities.

Although some of our members are professional musicians and organ technicians, we all share a love of music, movie palaces, and the history of the magnificent instrument that is the theatre pipe organ. Those of us who are amateur musicians enjoy the opportunity to play these historical instruments, while others contribute by helping with their maintenance and restoration. Still others help out with our programs and meetings and we all enjoy the good music and friendship of our monthly meetings.
